Not a lurker anymore!
My husband and I have been married 23 years. Our kids are now college and have flown the best! We’ve been practicing DD for less than a year. I’ve never felt happier or closer to my husband. I’m excited to be on this site! I also asked a question about starting over if anyone wants to comment.

Welcome southernmom (from another southern mom
), we're newbies together. I'll admit it too, I was lurking for a while myself. I also decided it was time to join and get to know everybody and learn as much as I can.

Hi, and a big welcome!
Forgive my errors...and any and every good thing comes from Him whose loving Almighty hand can guide even me, through His Holy Spirit, and His Son my Saviour Jesus Christ:

Welcome Southernmom!
Me and my wife (KMaria) has recently joined the Forum – and we are still
curious, if that’s the word, of how DD-life’s are lived – past and present.
We’ve sort of been in the neighborhood for years, practicing a relation based on dominance and submission. Now, it’s time for a more structured DD-lifestyle, and you are all very important people for us in that process,
Hope it’s alright if I ask you a question? How was your first 22 years? And why the switch to DD? Were you like us? Halfway there without even knowing that DD was a reality for some people.
Or 22 vanilla years?
Axel

Hey Axel!!
I’d love to answer your question - the first 21 years were pretty vanilla, except in the bedroom. When the kids left for college my husband was concerned we’d lose our connection. So we started a more D/s life. I brought DD into our lives. I didn’t even know it was a real thing. I started searching around, looking for something that fit how I felt. I was thrilled to find this group and have been lurking for months.
I wanted to submit. I want my husband to be more attentive. And I knew myself - if I was expected to be submissive, I needed the consequences that came along with it when I wasn’t following the rules. It took some time for my husband to agree to become my HoH and to truly agree. But, he did and I can’t imagine our lives any different.
We are both still learning. But I’m truly thankful for the way DD has changed my heart and mind.

Re: Not a lurker anymore!
That's wonderful!
I'm truly happy for you!
These days few marriages last as long as yours (at least in my country, I don’t know about the US). But I'm certain that DD could have saved many.
Reading on this site and similar ones it's apparent that DD, very often, is introduced by the woman and not by the man. In fact, many wife’s tells the same story as you do, that the husband had to be persuaded.
I wonder why?
Is it the times? Has the age of feminism made that thinking impossible - for men?
Or is it true, that some sources claim, that there are many more submissive´s than dominant counterparts?
(FYI: I didn’t need any persuasion, I was born a HoH ...
