Re: Literature
I have postponed reading Vedas, becouse it´s just too much hymns I can´t process. I have apperently still enough mental capacity for Jungle book.

The Punishment and Death
This doesn´t entirely fit here, but I always knew I must mention this book here one day. You see, Swedish author Mats Olsson wrote a mystery novel that I think wasn´t actually translated to English, so I submit it here more like a peculiarity. It´s original title is "Straffa och låta dö" and in The Czechia it was published as "Trest a smrt" (The Punishment and Death). The main protagonist is erotical spanker, journalist Harry Svensson whose journey is interwined with the serial killer who first spanks women... And then kills them. Over the longer time, Harry and his collegues, will obviously track the murderer.
I must say I enjoyed the basic idea immensely, but although the novel wasn´t exactly badly written, it bored me frequntly and seemed rather slow. There´s at least one more book with Harry as main character, but I wasn´t interested anymore.

Re: Literature
Just to update my pseudo-reading diary. I am in states of occasional depressions and Iam hardly capable of reading. Believe me, that´s sayong something.
On the other hand, it looks I am still able to read juvenileYA sci-fi, specifically Marie Lu´s duology Warcross and Wildcard.

Young girl Emika Chan who is excellent hacker/bounty hunter manages to break into popular eponymous game Warcross which makes hot candidate for solving problem with more dangerous infiltrator. Unfortunaly, the whole peril turns out to be so much more serious...

Re: Literature
Miras,
I actually enjoy some good young adult fiction. I was Skyping with the radiologist the other day, trying to remember the name of a book about the keeper of words. The ruler of the city (future after like a nuclear event) controlled what words were allowed and reduced language to about 500 words but some people still remembered the joy of the old language. I think I lost the book in my move. They imprisoned and killed people over language. Everything was hand written as computers and infrastructure destroyed

In the first book, after three Mowgli-related stories, we jump into Bering Sea in the story "The White Seal".

So I´m in the quarter of Midnight´s Children by Salman Rushdie and that´s the point when the narrator character is actually born. But I will not dwell on that point any more since Rushdie empathically included the character Padma as the representative of reader´s impatience.
