Hurricane Florence

Post by sweetie » Thu Sep 13, 2018 1:28 pm

Not sure if any of you are in the path of Hurricane Florence but we’re thinking of you all and hoping you and yours are all safe and sound and that if you are in Florence’s path that you miss the worst of it.

Best wishes to you all,

Thank you. It's a large storm. I think we are going to miss the worst of it now in VA. Will wait and see....but prepared nonetheless.

Only a few weeks after very unhappily letting my first born head for college in Virginia thousands of miles from home she now has to face a hurricane! This is NOT COOL universe! The school has been working with students on what to expect and how to prepare thank goodness. But I’m nervous. Her apartment is on a pretty big hill so she’ll just have to deal with power loss and wind. I’ve been in the Caribbean during storms and also southern Louisiana so I know how scary wind can be.

I volunteered with the Red Cross last year in Houston after Harvey. It was a MESS and I am afraid the Carolinas and Virginia are going to look similar in a week or so. Stay safe, and remember stuff is replaceable, lives are not.

In Asheville, We are on the outer rings, so just expect excessive rains. We actually have some refugees staying downstairs until Saturday, then another couple coming in ON Saturday. So glad we aren't on the coast!

49ergal63,

I didn't know you were back. That's good. Stay safe down there. All this rain is making it easy for trees to fall.
